Unbelievable!
Perhaps it is due to the fact that I have been out enjoying the sun and watching the boats on Lake Mead!
Did you get your boat out this summer? There is still plenty of time and plenty of wonderful weather to take advantage of the fresh air, sun and water, and absorb that last bit of summer which actually lasts well into the month of October in Southern Nevada. Believe me, at any given time on a weekend now, even with the kids in school, many folks are out with their boats on their trailers, off to the lake to fish, swim, and just relax from their hectic work week or the first week of school. Party on! It's Labor Day weekend, notably the last "hurrah" before winter sets in and the boat goes to dry dock! Just a few cautions please--be safe, take care, be patient, and don't drink on your boat--especially if you have kids aboard and are "driving!"elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-83355918833146358262010-06-27T21:58:00.000-07:002010-06-27T21:58:50.288-07:00The HEAT IS ON!! So are the BOATS!Summer began, according to our calendars, one week ago today! I see boats being towed on just about every major street and artery in Las Vegas! Yes, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is heading for the water because the temperatures are a'risin'!!
Tomorrow, 6/28, on OUR "east" side of town, nearest to Lake Mead, it is forecast to be 111 degrees!!! This will be sustained throughout MOST of this week and on! Can you imagine how glorious it is out on our huge Lake Mead as well as on the smaller lakes around like Lake Las Vegas?? The sky is so blue and the few little clouds around are pure white!
What a time to get your boat, your water skis, your Sea-Doos, your inflatable towing toys out and in use! The kids are out of school so go and have yourself some good clean fun! PLEASE--Remember that sun screen! The UV's are at their highest range right now and a miserable sunburn is not the memory you want to hold on to when you think about your summer vacation on the water here! Be safe and be smart!
Do you have all your safety gear? Anything you need you can find by going to the "Amazon.com" access port to the right and doing your shopping!
Have fun and a safe start to your summer recreation! Oh by the way, the 4th of July is spectacular when the boats on the lakes are decorated! Comne on down to Las Vegas and take a look...Enjoy your BOATS AFLOAT!
I had NO idea it had been so long since I blogged about boating here in Las Vegas!
We have had THE MOST incredible weather! The ski resorts JUST closed within the last two weeks, and it has stayed cool and lovely! Now, Memorial Day is here, and Lake Mead is bursting with boaters!
It's Friday night, and people are coming from all over the country after hearing we will have 95 degree weather on the water on Monday! Bring on the sun screen! Bring on the barbecues!
Have you checked out the new boats on Amazon.com? There are clear boats, and glass bottomed boats--great for seeing the LOST CITY in the bottom of Lake Mead! The LOST CITY only appears when the water level is this low. It was last seen MANY, MANY years ago, and now it is visible! The water level is over 150 feet below normal, and even though the boat ramps have been relocated, you can still launch your boat, your water skis, your Wave Runners, Jet Ski's and Sea-Doos on our fabulous LAKE MEAD!
Just enjoy and PLEASE--be wary and courteous to other boaters! Above all, BE SAFE! Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-70296675220904132012010-04-17T21:17:00.000-07:002010-04-17T21:21:12.352-07:00SUMMER is hot on SPRING'S heels!Wow! April came in like March's lamb, and it's been a creeping spring for 2010 and Las Vegas!
Today, April 17, the heat seeped through to 86 degrees, and people are walking around in shorts, fanning themselves, and increasing their water intake in preparation for the ensuing summer heat! We have a light breeze today, and it will manage to cool down at night for just a few more short weeks! What a way for spring to speed ahead, bringing on SUMMER, and all the fun, relaxation, and enjoyment of your favorite water sport as well!
There is still a lot of snow on our mountains, but the "washes" are constantly bringing water down to Lake Mead from the melt. In doing so, our desert plants are getting the water they so badly thirst for, and the desert flowers are ALL in bloom! Have you seen the pictures of Death Valley? Flowers have laid the most glorious carpet on the valley floor!
Get out those boats, and water skis, etc. (If they need replacing, just enter any of my Amazon portals to order!) It's time to dust them off, clean them up and ready them for some fun on the water! The Lake is being replenished, and SUMMER is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-31860064433541674772010-03-27T19:06:00.000-07:002010-03-27T19:18:10.756-07:00Put Away Your SNOW BOATS!WOW! How time flies! Spring has sprung, and even though there is still snow on our mountains here around the Las Vegas perimeter, it is 70 degrees, windy and GORGEOUS! It's SPRING BREAK!
This weekend is the heralded "TEA PARTY" gathering in Searchlight, Nevada, which is a mere "hop, skip and a jump", like less than an hour south from fabulous Las Vegas, and north from Laughlin! It is almost a half way mark along the long stretch of lonely highway that runs through there.
Only about 800 people actually live in Searchlight, and there are more than 10,000 attendees, and the lake is beckoning the "HOUSEBOAT LEGIONNAIRES!"
Many houseboats that were in storage have been brought into the Marina, cleaned and polished for service for this weekend alone. Many other boaters will be out on Lake Mead, and perhaps even some water skiers on the Colorado River in Laughlin, as well!
What a fabulous weekend weather-wise for water sports! Go on through my Amazon portal and take a look at house boats and all the accessories for this particular water vehicle!
Remember, there are still some skiers on the snow at Mt. Charleston too!
Bring your boats, your water toys or your snow toys, and come on up and enjoy the ability to both snow ski AND water ski, all during Spring Break, in OUR incomparable Nevada desert! Oh, and don't forget to check out the fantastic WILDFLOWERS as well! You ONLY can see them IN THE SPRING!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-41250836366130224882010-02-19T15:22:00.000-08:002010-02-19T15:22:36.841-08:00Amazing Winter Olympics in Las Vegas! It is almost the last week of February and another, yes, another storm is on it's way into the Las Vegas valley as we speak! The mountains have a dusting of snow at present, but after this weekend we will again have snow caps galore!
The roads to Mt. Charleston may require chains, so please be aware! It is dangerous in this area not to "chain up" as required. Most people do not have even snow tires on their vehicles, so getting in and out of these resorts, in the white stuff, proves quite difficult and treacherous at times!
There are many higher elevations north and east of us here in the southern part of the state, where people are so enjoying their sleds, snow mobiles, skis, and snow boards--just like at the Olympics! GO USA!!
The snow "boats" are on the hills and people are having a ball! It has been so gorgeous this week in the valley proper, as the temperatures have reached 70 plus degrees, but not so on the snow covered mountains! With temperatures in the twenties and thirties, those snow "boaters" will be enjoying the winter festivities for many more weeks to come.
Should you change your mind, and not want to go to the snow, bring that BOAT to FLOAT on Lake Mead this weekend, and out onto the beautiful rising water! You will be able to see snow all around you and not have to be IN IT!! To your GOOD health!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-54767953895055519492010-02-09T23:14:00.000-08:002010-02-11T12:04:23.760-08:00It's RAINING, It's POURING! The SNOW TOYS are ROARING!February has arrived in southern Nevada, and it has been raining for days off and on! In a week's time, we have received MORE than our yearly total already, with more storms on the way! Snow covers the tops of all of our mountain ranges...what a magnificent sight for our visitors coming to our fabulous desert for the Super Bowl and the upcoming Valentine's weekend!
Snow is falling EVERYWHERE! That beautiful white stuff has presented several feet in the higher elevations, and the skis and snow mobiles are OUT in force! For some right now, who live up on the mountain, and many others across the northern states and the mid Atlantic, there is a desperate need for snow mobiles just for transportation to work, or to get groceries and other necessities! Many people have their cars and trucks practically buried under several feet of snow, with doors frozen shut, unable to even start their vehicles or chain up.
Have you settled on which brand of snow mobile YOU want to buy? Have you even thought about how welcome, practical or serviceable one would be right now? Maybe you don't need it because you are still able to drive your 4-wheel or truck, but there is still a lot of time to have some good fun racing around on one with your family, or friends while the snow abounds! Try www.Amazon.com for your every sporting need for your 2010 snow adventures! Enjoy, but keep WARM!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-15889352703636741382010-01-29T13:08:00.000-08:002010-02-11T12:06:30.710-08:00Winter and Summer Boats in the Valley!Closing out January, we have had quite an exciting few weeks of weather!
Of course, it is nothing like you folks in the mid-West or northern states have seen, but still, we have had snow, sleet, rain--you name it! To us, this is a true blessing from Mother Nature, as it is helping to abate some of our terrible drought and the levels of water dropping in our beautiful lakes in southern Nevada.
Venturing up to Mt. Charleston the other day, west of Las Vegas proper, the mountain was thrilled to welcome the "snow boaters!!" Yes! You saw everything from snow mobiles, skis, snow shoes, toboggans, dishes and the electric and gas powered snow sleds! These are soooo cool! Don't forget the fantastic chair lifts, and the scenery is outstanding! This is food for the heart, soul, and winter doldrums!
Families were out enjoying the fleeting beauty of the snow, which is ours alone, here in the desert areas of southern Nevada! Even though there are skis and other fantastic pleasure giving machines on the slopes, there are STILL boats on the water on Lake Mead!
This is one mixture of summer and winter wonderlands for sure! Come one, come all! Come visit Las Vegas before our summer sets in, and bring YOUR "B_O_A_T!" Haven't got one yet?

How do YOU store YOUR boat? Where? Do you plan to re-seal and/or re-paint it? Are there any loose or worn parts that need replacing? Do you leave fuel in the motor all winter, or do you drain it?

Now it's time to get out that Snow Mobile. It's time to take off the wraps and polish or wax up those runners, and see if it has maintained its beautiful exterior and working parts throughout the summer!
Wouldn't it be a blast to own one, and enjoy the thrill of speed on the snow, like you did on the water on your boat this summer? Well, Amazon is definitely the answer! Amazon.com let's you take a look around!

A friend of mine, a nurse, lived in the Tahoe area many years ago, where her husband worked for the U.S. Forest Service. They had a car and a truck of course, but when the snow really fell, and there were six or eight feet or more everywhere, the Snow Mobile was their sole means of transportation. Long story short, it was mid winter, January, and she was pregnant with their first child, and due in a few weeks. Her date came, her water broke, and her husband rushed her to the nearest hospital ten miles away on their Snow Mobile. She had an easy delivery, so easy in fact and with no complications, that she was discharged less than thirty six hours later. Yes, you guessed it! Her husband drove in on the Snow Mobile, picked her and the baby up, and together, the three of them, braved the ten mile trip back home--Mom, Dad and baby boy--his first trip on a Snow Mobile, home from the hospital in the snow!
Are you familiar with the terms "topside" paint, or "bottom" paint or do you know the difference between the two?
Do you know that you should not use the same paint below the waterline that you use above it? There are certain products used on boats, and ships, ONLY above the water line. What about that part of the boat which is constantly submerged. Do you have any idea what happens to the paint after long exposure or submersion in salt water especially? You say you may not have to worry as your boat is always on a lake? Many paints MAY be applied under the water line on trailered boats. Do you know the difference in order to maintain that lustrous finish on the boat of your dreams?
Most paints used above the water line create an incredibly silky smooth, highly attractive finish and give a boat long lasting protection. They offer hardness, gloss retention, and most importantly-adhesion to the boat material itself, as well as UV and chemical resistance, and resistance to water friction.
There are new super EPOXYS, strictly for marine use. They tend to displace rust-causing moisture, and apply smoothly and are durable. Some are, indeed, easier to work with than others, and can be brushed on or rolled. They create a wonderfully soft appearance, yet demonstrate rock hard durability, and are manufactured to withstand abrasive fuel chemicals, impacts, scuff resistance and brush or roller marks.
One gallon claims to cover about three hundred or more square feet depending, of course, on the surface being more or less porous.
Basically, as with painting many other things, one must prepare the surface by removing the old paint, loose scale, wax, oil and other contaminants, before starting to prepare the boat for a face-lift or initial paint job. The surface must be sanded or "scuffed," and then it must be primed. The better the primer, the less paint needed. If your boat is made of wood, the wood must be completely dry before starting the project. Most of these marine products are suitable on all metals, wood, fiberglass, aluminum, composite materials and masonry.
Lastly, the laquer products, and marine spar varnishes, the toughest sealers for the perfect finish, for YOUR boat, AFLOAT!elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-90331258573720226092009-09-01T23:05:00.000-07:002009-09-01T23:10:07.565-07:00Are you REALLY prepared to take that Boat-- AFLOAT?So, you think you have everything you need for a day, on your boat, on a lake or the bay, the ocean or the delta? What items do you need to make your day safer and more fun? Have you thought about that potential emergency? What happens if your boat incurs a devastating leak from hitting an object that is submerged?
What about the other occupants in your boat? Are you prepared for an emergency should you not be able to return to the pier in short order? What about the safety of those guests you've invited to come along for just an outing, for fishing, or maybe for that bit of water skiing? Do you have any safety equipment on board? If there are skiers, do you have that red warning flag to let other boaters and skiers know you have guests in a water toy, or in the water just swimming around or diving, or at the ready on skis? Maybe it's not required where you take your boat afloat, but do you know? Do you have children on board? Do you have safety vests for everyone including the small children aboard? How about plenty of drinking water, sodas, or snacks?
What about the sun? Do your guests have protective eye wear, goggles, or sun glasses? Do you? What about caps or some protection for scalps? How about sunscreen? The worst sunburns can be gotten from the sun's rays dancing off the water providing bounding UV rays, yielding very red and chafed skin, as well as damage to the eyes from the constant bright glare! Are you prepared?
What happens if the motor goes and you become stranded? Do you have any type of communication device, like a CB or 2-way radio. Cell phones may not work. What about a set of paddles, or oars of some type?
Lastly, have you thought about something as basic as a First Aid Kit? What about flares? Does anyone have extra dry clothes, maybe a blanket or two on board, or a tarp? You don't have to bring the "whole house," but a word to the wise about carrying at least some of these items, even on a short day trip, on your boat afloat. Are you REALLY prepared to take YOUR boat--afloat?elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-54015539715930276312009-08-27T17:54:00.000-07:002009-08-27T17:57:12.860-07:00BOATS AFLOAT in OUR Desert! We have lived in Las Vegas for nearly twelve years. For at least seven years, I've heard people talk about "lakes" in the valley. This is a desert! I knew of our major lake, which is internationally known. It is Lake Mead, a huge spawling body of crystal blue green water, which is contained behind the great Hoover Dam (or Boulder as most know it.) The lake is bordered by Nevada and Arizona and is fed by the Colorado River. There are many types of boats afloat here, but basically one sees motor boats, pontoons, and ski boats, as well as Sea-Doos, and Jet Skis on the water all the time. The water level has dropped over 100 feet, millions of acre feet of water, since we have lived here because of the ongoing drought. Several other states use the water from this lake as well. Southern California gets a larger portion than all of Nevada. There is even a history of a sunken city in the lake which has surfaced only once since the lake was filled.
We have wetlands, where unusual species of plants and birds can be found, where small ponds form when it rains, but I could never imagine a lake of any type in this desert.
One day, while driving east on the Lake Mead Parkway, after crossing Boulder Highway, I noted being on Lake Las Vegas Parkway! I drove about ten miles, and came upon a sign which read "Lake Montelago/Lake Las Vegas!" I was like, "Well, I have to check this out!" As I approached the resort entrance, I noted this to be a high end residential area, which was developed for the wealthy, for seclusion, relaxation and golf. The area was and is still being developed by Intrawest Corporation. It sports custom homes everywhere, tucked behind numerous palm trees, shrubs and man-made terrain, with private docks for boats and yachts, hundreds of palm trees, and golf courses. It demonstrates a total Mediterranean motif. It is home to a Ritz Carlton Hotel, Loew's Las Vegas, and Lake Montelago, which is a pristine body of water deep enough in some areas to moor yachts. There are several lakes of varying depths. Surrounding this outstandingly beautiful lake area, off in the distance, are mountains, which in winter have snow caps. Lake Las Vegas boasts a wonderful shopping district, spa, and numerous restaurants, as well as a casino, all on property. It is seventeen miles east of "The Strip," in Henderson, Nevada..
Now, I AM A BELIEVER! There ARE lakes in the desert!
THIS is where to take YOUR boat---to float---and so much more........in OUR desert!

There are fishing boats, towing boats, shrimp boats, ski boats, speed boats and paddle boats--there are wood boats, fiberglass boats, aluminum boats--new boats and used boats--just to name a few.
My favorite boat is my son-in-law's ski boat, to which my teenage grand kids are at the ready on skis, wearing bright orange vests, their faces dripping with lake water from the wake, laughing and hanging on for dear life as their father handles the wheel!
Imagine yourself, on a weekend, or vacationing, after many long days at work, there, with your family perhaps, or friends, or EVEN just by yourself!
Can you see yourself, out on the water, in your own, special boat-afloat, either idling, cruising, fishing, or just plain having a ball, speeding through the crystal waters on a fabulous lake? It doesn't matter if you're just sitting inside, or putting on your skis or sitting in your water toy. Just when you reach that perfect spot, being able to fall out into the water, get up on your skis, and at that certain moment when the motor kicks in gear, taking off as that boat jets across the lake or delta, and your day is made!
Bright sun, clear sky, a little wind, but most of all, the fun of a family day on a beautiful body of water, in a special boat you love, getting the pleasure of living that dream of owning and spending that quality time with your family and or friends, in your own very special boat...afloat!
You'll need to understand terms, like "horsepower," "RPM's," "pitch," "slip," and "throttle."
If a motor is too powerful for the size of the boat, it is a waste of your money and energy. If the motor is too low in horsepower, it should only be used on flotation type boats or small portable boats, some specifically from http://www.porta-bote.com/.
The inboard motor is an engine installed in the hull, or front of a boat. You see these motor types most commonly on speed and ski boats. Usually the turn of a key, or the push of a button, starts it's power and moves your boat forward. It is very much like a car in that it has several speeds (gears.) The motor to the boat is like the tires to a car! Most engines have a neutral position, and progressive speeds, as well as a reverse gear.
The second most common motor is the "outboard" which is usually mounted on the "stern" or rear of the boat. These motors come in large models with nearly the same horsepower as a car, and also smaller varieties that you see on small fishing boats and rescue boats, for example, and they use less than a half gallon of fuel an hour (again depending on the size and the horsepower of the particular motor.) Other times you will see "twin"engines mounted on the stern of some boats.
At the base of the engine is a prop or propeller assembly. Steel and aluminum are used for the propellers which are responsible for how the engine runs. The faster the boat can go depends on the proper propeller operating with the proper progressive gears, and does not exceed the limit or standard recommended for the boat and motor size. The wrong power and size match can cause irreparable damage to the motor, and will cause excessive engine wear over a short period of time. This will void any warranty and end the life of your motor much sooner than expected.
Many engines are made by the same companies as cars. e.g. Nissan, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, not to exclude true boat motor builders like Evinrude, Minn Kota, and Torqeedo Motors.
For more information on many of these motors, please see also http://www.cabalas.com/ at Cabala's Online Store for more information and selections.

elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-10433674746473116232009-08-06T14:54:00.000-07:002009-08-06T15:47:23.279-07:00Necessities for a Boat AfloatWhat do you THINK you need to go boating? Oh sure, you have the boat, maybe a motor or paddles, even the trailer on which your boat rests before launch, but have you considered your REAL needs when out on the water, afloat?
There are several other basic items which will make your boating experience more fun, safer, and gear you up for any emergency.
A must for any boater are water shoes. Beach shoes or sandals that are flexible and dry easily, as well as being made of non-damaging materials and easy on your boat's finish, are essential.
A second, and most important item is a boating safety vest. Just like needing seat belts in your car, a safety vest can prevent any boater, young or old, from drowning should an unforeseen incident happen. Boating vests come in many bright colors, giving easy visibility to other boaters in the area. They come in all sizes, from infant to the plus-sized adult, based mostly on the weight of the boater. The cost, compared to the loss of life with drowning, is very minimal. The cost for even the most excellently made vest is usually under $50. The properly fitted vest keeps the boater afloat. For a child, the flotation collar keeps small heads upright, having special neck supports, grab straps and enhanced flotation capabilities. They have adjustable body straps as well, for a snug fit, yet allowing easy limb movement.
Sunglasses, with recommended UV/ray protection, are essential to help reduce the sun's glare off the water, even for the smallest boaters.
Do you use your boat to pull inflatable toys, or skiers? Then the proper type of tow rope is absolutely necessary as there are ropes specifically for towing toys like tubes and boards, and others for towing one or more skiers, as well as for tying up your boat.
Do you prefer lake, or river, or ocean boating? Wet suits are a must and come in many styles and colors as well. There are short and shirt suits, to full body suits like a diver wears, known to many as "body gloves" (also a particular brand of suit.) These suits are for warmth, rash prevention and sun protection for those boaters who make a day of it on the water wherever they go. They are light weight, protective and fast drying too.
Remember, to include a first aid kit for that unexpected cut or scrape which inevitably happens when you least expect it. Be prepared!
Lastly, don't forget the sunscreen for both the kids, and the adults, in your boat--afloat!

elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-53171556128072873052009-08-01T10:06:00.000-07:002009-09-07T23:18:56.197-07:00Wood BoatsPlywood has been a material of choice for boat building for many centuries. Its weight gives it excellent flotation. The advantages to plywood, besides its light weight, is that it can be "fashioned" or molded into many angles and curves with ease. Arching and curving of this fine wood can be extremely beautiful and breathtaking. You will be awed and amazed at the beauty of the finished product. From the building of model boats for a beginning craftsman who wants to develop his dream, to the expertise of the skilled artisan, plywood will yield it's benefits for many years to come. Plywood is more economical for the beginning builder, and building a boat with wood is totally within the ability of an amateur craftsman.
Although newer and more exciting materials like aluminum, fiberglass and synthetics are used in making flashier boats, plywood, treated and properly prepared, has more important aspects, especially it's durability, which will thereby ensure its quality over most of the newer materials, for many years to come.
The process of building one's boat from plywood requires basic tools, and just a few other special items, like an electric saw, planer, and sander. The development of the boat is one of many stages, in preparing the wood, and completing the individual design.
There are also Marine Plywood Building kits available.
A very prominent lighter weight material is ALUMINUM.
Aluminum is a type of metal alloy, and it has a portability, and durability, unlike fiberglass or wood. Many of the standard features on aluminum boats are made of stainless steel, (e.g. the tying rings (on the outside for towing,) and include also parts of gadgets and gauges, plus at least four heavy duty "lift points." Vinyl is a material used on aluminum boats, especially around the "bump rail," and this particular vinyl is heavy duty and resists marring. Much of the flotation is accomplished through full, non-absorbent foam.
Aluminum boats are much easier to repair in the event a repair is mandated. Any minor damage to the boat can usually be taken care of by one person. These boats never need waxing unlike the popular and flashy fiberglass boats. Corrosion is another concern to boat owners who use their boats in both fresh water and salt water venues. Aluminum boats have a superior resistance to corrosion. They are increasing in popularity because of their solid construction, durability and buoyancy, and the ability of aluminum to repel "dings."
Many sportsmen prefer aluminum boats for fishing, as well as their becoming increasingly more popular for other recreational activities. They are also less costly to operate, using less fuel than many of the heavier models who utilize heavier(more horsepower) motors.
They are more comfortable to transport and launch, and more durable to withstand temperature changes and store.
There are many great deals on various sizes as well as on new and used, plus accessories.

See: "Shopping.com;" "BestPrice.com,"; Local.com."
elenongal66http://www.blogger.com/profile/04407004192759718813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4873941190635125187.post-21545688135364114822009-07-27T16:19:00.000-07:002009-08-23T15:27:42.252-07:00Inflatable BoatsAre you a fisherman? Water skier? Hobbyist who loves boats?
Did you know that some boats are "inflatable?"
Many people prefer inflatable boats due to their lighter weight and portability. Maybe you are that fisherman who has a very private small fishing spot, where a boat with trailer may not feasibly launch. Some of these boats are so lightweight that they can be easily carried by one person, or two. Inflatable boats are not made for speed, particularly, although with motors attached, speed can be attained if necessary. They may actually be more stable than many "hard-sided" boats due to their flatter bottoms. Most inflatable boats will not scratch your vehicle when being transported. There are also many other uses for inflatable boats, one being to transport people from a larger vessel to the shore. Most are made from soft materials, but durable, not of metal, plastic, wood or aluminum. They come in various types from canoes and rowboats to bigger sizes where oars and motors can be utilized.
